These healthy meatballs can also come in handy when you are under a time constraint. Make a batch of these spicy mango turkey meatballs and save them, they freeze very well and can be reheated and used.
If you’re not a fan of turkey, this recipe can be also made with chicken by replacing the minced turkey with chicken.
I find that the best way to get equal sized balls of these turkey meatballs is to use an ice cream scooper. That way you can make sure that your turkey meatballs are round too.
Great Ingredients
Turkey boasts of an impressive nutrient profile, along with being a protein rich food, dark and white meat of turkey is leaner than of it chicken counterpart. Turkey is loaded with minerals like selenium, zinc and phosphorus and is best consumed in unprocessed form. Processed turkey meat has high sodium content, which makes it relatively unhealthy.
I used a South Indian meat masala in this recipe. It is made up of spices like fennel, cardamom, cinnamon etc. and is different from garam masala. You can get meat masala from an Indian store. There are also brands like Jiva Organics which carry the organic version of meat masala.
I also made use of an organic alphonso mango puree from Pure Indian Foods. Alphonso mango is widely regarded as the king of mangoes and tastes delicious. The puree is so sweet and buttery that you can eat it straight out of the jar as dessert, it is that good. It gives the dish that rich and creamy texture.

Notes
You can find the meat masala in any Indian store. I used the Nirapara brand of meat masala.
I used 100 percent pure, mango puree from Pure Indian Foods to make the meatballs and mango yogurt sauce.
The onion in the meatballs may sweat water in the pan, you can let it evaporate by cooking the meatballs without a lid for a minute in the end.
