This recipe for Herby turkey meatballs is healthy, juicy and very flavorful. It is very versatile and the meatballs can be enjoyed in a number of ways.
This recipe came about when I was trying to find new ways to incorporate herbs into my toddler’s food. My 4 year-old loved these herby, soft spiced, meatballs so much that they have become a regular at our home. Believe me when I say that you would absolutely love it too!
So my toddler was eating many vegetables, but like any other kid, she had her own preferences. I had grown up eating mint and coriander and that still are my favorite herbs.
Mint and coriander acts as a detoxifier and cleanses our system. These herbs have numerous health benefits like being anti inflammatory, reducing oxidative stress and being anti bacterial and anti viral. Along with this being abundant in nutrients like potassium, manganese, cholate etc.
Herbs are a great way to add flavor without the use of extra fat or sodium. And spices like mint and coriander imparts that fresh flavor that would be very pleasing to the palette.
I was introduced to turkey only when I came to US since it wasn’t a popular choice of meat in India. Like Salmon, it took me a while to get comfortable with turkey.
Turkey contains fewer calories and more protein than chicken. Turkey, like salmon and coriander, is a superfood for me. If you want to know what I am talking about, check here . There is also a delicious salmon recipe, if you are a salmon lover like me.
Personally, I like to have my superfood turkey meatballs, as I would like to call it, will some toppings like pomegranate seeds, chopped onions and a drizzle of raita. For the carb conscious, you can have it with a side of healthy salad.
Or otherwise, have it with rice or wrapped it breads like naan or pita. They are a flavor explosion in the mouth. Enjoy!
