Why is this Jalapeno Dip Recipe Healthy?
I was looking for a light, creamy flavorful dip when I was coming up this recipe. In place of cream cheese or sour cream traditionally used for a dip, this recipe uses healthy Greek yogurt to thicken the dip. The recipe uses a ton of flavors from the jalapenos, coriander and all the spices to make this light, delicious, creamy dip drool-worthy. Greek yogurt is thicker than regular yogurt. It has less sugar compared to it and has a higher concentration of protein.
According to this Healthline article, Greek yogurt is packed with Probiotics which are healthy microbes that can help boost your immune system and decrease stomach issues.
Cilantro and the citrus note from the lemons adds in freshness, while toasted and ground spices makes it more flavorful.
A Variety of Spices
This recipe uses spices like cumin, coriander and black pepper to add a rich flavor profile to the dip. All the spices are from Diaspora Co. They guarantee fresh and potent spices sourced all the way from different parts of India. Their same year harvest ensures maximum freshness to these spices. You can buy the spices and more here.
Step by step method to make the Jalapeno Dip
Gather all the ingredients. Toast cumin, coriander and peppercorns in a small heated pan for 2-3 minutes.
First, coarsely grind the spices. Combine everything except olive oil including the toasted and ground spices in a food processor and blend. With the motor running slowly, add olive oil in a stream to the blend until it is emulsified. Transfer to a bowl, thereafter check the salt level and adjust accordingly.
I used the Hic Olive oil brand for this recipe. This delicious, certified organic, brand of olive oil is harvested from the largest organic, olive forest on the Aegean coast where over 60,000 olive trees grow wild in their natural environment. This rich, olive oil with almond notes is perfect for dressings, as a finishing touch to salads or simply on its own, to dip bread in.
