How easy is it to make Air
Fried Shoe String Potatoes?
This recipe can be made from scratch or there is a simply way to speed things up. It has all to do with the potatoes.
You can either make the cuts for shoestring fries at home or buy shoestring cut potatoes from the store.
I opted for the second method as I wanted a quick easy snack when I am spending time with my family.
Both methods are fairly simple and it is easy to make shoestring fries at home. It is so good that you will end making it more often than you think you would.
In order to make the shoe string cut at home, wash and peel the potatoes. Slice the potatoes into julienne slices using the julienne blade in a mandolin slicer or with a knife ( this may be time consuming).
Place the potatoes in ice cold water and let it sit for 10 minutes to remove the excess starch. Squeeze out the excess water with paper towels or squeeze them dry. The potatoes must be super dry before proceeding.
Step-by-Step method to make Air Fried Shoe String Potatoes
Gather all the seasonings which includes 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, 1/2 tsp. onion powder, salt (or as per taste), 1/8 tsp. turmeric, 1/4 tsp. asafoetida, 1/8 tsp. cumin powder, 1/8 tsp. turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp. chili powder and 1/4 tsp. coriander powder.
Toss in all the seasonings over the cut shoestring fries.
Give everything a nice mix to make sure that all the fries are well coated in the seasoning.
Line the air fryer basket with foil and spray oil.
Air fry at 400 F for about 17-18 minutes until done. Toss and turn every now and then to ensure the shoestring potatoes are cooked evenly. Keep an eye on the fries to make sure that they don’t get too crispy.
Transfer to a plate and enjoy with a cooling dip.
Cooling Sriracha dip
This cooling Sriracha dip goes perfectly well with these spiced potatoes. This recipe is from Savory Experiments.
Combine 2 tbsp. sriracha sauce with 1/2 cup sour cream or greek yogurt and 1 tbsp. honey or agave nectar. Whisk until combined and chill until ready to use. I added some chopped up chives as seasoning to the dip.
This makes the perfect condiment to the air fried shoe string potatoes.
